GLORY REVEALED

John Chapter 2

In this chapter, we read about the first miracle of Jesus' open public ministry. At a family marriage celebration, Jesus turns water into wine. The celebration has gone on longer than planned for and the wine has run out.

Mary, Jesus Mother, comes to Jesus with her concern. Jesus respsonse to Mary, is a bit confusing at first. But it shows that their relationship has reached a point of change.

Jesus will no longer be Mary's earthly son only. But also her Saviour and Lord. She shows great faith and trust in and reliance on and committment to Jesus. Knowing that He is willing and capable of dealing with the problem. We today should apply her example to our lives also.

She turns to the servants and tells them "what He tells you to do, do it". Here is another lesson for us also. Now his followers wittnessed all of this and realized they also needed to have Faith and Trust in Jesus. I wonder if they knew that this was just the beginning of their "spiritual eyes being opened".

After several months stay in Cana, Jesus and those with Him are on the move, pausing breifly at Capernaum and then on to Jerusalem.

Then it begins: Jesus goes to the Temple. And finds that His Father's house has been turned into a place of commerce, instead of worship. He promptly cleans House. And that stirs up a bee's nest. The religous leaders asked Jesus, by what authority He was doing all this. They asked for a sign, or evidence, that Jesus had the right to do what He was doing. Yet Jesus did not answer them directly. Instead He showed that, He knows what is in the hearts and minds of everyone. That they wanted to kill Him. (vv.18-22;24-25) This set the stage for the conflict between Jesus and the religous leaders for the rest of His ministry. In the days the Passover was celebrated, typically 8, there were "many people" (v.23) that believed on Jesus.

This chapter shows me That Jesus KNOWS what is in our minds, souls, and spirits. Whether it is total commitment, trust, and belief in Him, or rejection, unbelief and lipservice toward Him. We can NOT Hide from Jesus!
